Finding our Groove

July 18 – Day 2

Riding the Trolly Car across the river!

Long day of hiking 8 or 9 miles depending on who you ask.  Theresa called it the “Monster March” – 11 am to 8 pm.  We started thinking of different names we could call our team — Impossible Headbands” for the “Impossible Headlands we kept coming across that would send us inland to cross.  We crossed a river by two person trolley.  We had to pull ourselves by rope to finish.  It was FUN!

I liked our tribe name – MaWoTe – (MaSanda, Woody, Theresa).  Do you notice how creativity starts to take over when you have time to create?

What are you creating today?

We arrived at Tsusiat Falls and camped by ourselves by a cave.  Theresa ran into a marmot like creature.  I think they scared each other.  She probably invaded his house.  He checked out ours all night.  Woody hung up one pack with food and thankfully nobody had dinner on us that night.

I want to be a sea lion for a day.

After spending hours hiking on the beach there was a serenity that came over me that night.  My feet were throbbing and the cool sand cooled them off and all was well in our world…

The Truth of Me

Rummaging through the closet of my mind
Searching and searching but have yet to find
The truth of me.
Although I know that it is in there
A garment I want so desperately to wear
Just hiding from me
I quickly discard a few remnants from my past
And toss some borrowed and donated pieces out fast
But still the truth evades me
I haven't made the slightly scratch nor dent
Cause the clutter and garbage is omnipresent
Deeply burying the reality of me
I hastily decide to throw it all away
Realizing that none of it came home here to stay
Just a temporary illusion of me
I found what I need in the closet's core
Now, I don't have to search no more
And I can be free.
